Interstingly small....small world

I have a sponsered child.

His name is Aman, and he lives in Uttarpradesh, India. He's only 1 year old, and he has both parents living with him that love him. I guess I can't really call him my foster son so much as I send a little money that helps him out now and then.

The world seems so big. Uttarpradesh, India is about as far away from my life and experiences that he might as well be on a different planet. That being the case, he is not out of my reach, and my ability to show love and prayer.

But how far out of reach is he, when my co-workers wife, likely gave oral vaccines to his brothers around the time he was born? Tanya Molson was a voluneteer in Uttarpradesh giving out oral vaccines for polio right just before Aman was born, but it's pretty much a strong bet that Aman's brothers were in the same room, if not received the vaccine from, Tanya.

If I play the six degrees game, that puts me at Jeff & Melissa -> Shane -> Tanya -> Brothers -> Aman.

And knowing this drives me to something else. It awakens a small fact that there's more. So much more. I am in no way naive or pompous enough to think that the $35/month that Melissa and I send is "giving my best" or "my utmost for his highest."

God's calling on me to this point has been simple. To grow in the light of his grace, to empower and exhort other believers, and to gain and strengthen in the knowledge that's available.
I don't know what calling he has on my life beyond this, but I know that I'm looking.

Phillipians 3:12 - 15.

God Bless,
Jeff

Just an update, I now work for the company that I sponsored that child through.  Aman's doing great, and I love this place.
